Tip #17:
A lot of taxis prey on tourist. Let's be honest, they have what you need, and you are just there to spend money and enjoy your time. When you land, you most likely will get a taxi to get to your hotel or Airbnb. Even some places that have Uber, still use Taxis on the app (Rome).
TIP! Before ever getting into a Taxi, ask them the cost. Like all business transactions, both parties should be on the same page. Never wait until you arrive because the driver knows that you are out of leverage and they will name a price way higher. You have no options other than pay as you already took the service.
Talk BEFORE you even get in, AND you can always negotiate! Lower the price by asking and telling them you will use them the whole trip. More long term income is much more important than just one trip. You can find some awesome drivers this way! It's how I got a driver to drive 3 hours to see the sunrise on the Atlantic then 3 hours back to watch it set on the Pacific!
